What Is the Issue?

According to FBI’s Uniform Crime Report (UCR), for the past 15 to 20 years, both the violent and nonviolent crime rates have been in decline.

 

However, a global study on homicide held by United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) had stated that overall the total crime rate of the United States compared to other developed countries, especially Europe, is higher, except for South American countries and Russia.

Various studies have been conducted to analyze the complex topic about crime, but there is no perfect way to fully explain the subject matter. Thus, taking in consideration of various different factors could be one possible approach to better understand crime.
